Just fitting my new double bubble tinted screen and have now dropped and lost a total of 3 of the well-nuts. (Lost the first 2 when I was putting the original screen onto track fairings, haven't lost them all today - I'm not a completely useless tart).

No problem, I thought, I'll just open the packet of Screen Screws and well-nuts I bought from Halfords this afternoon. Nope. They're the wrong size - about twice as big as the original Ducati screen ones.

So, my question is:-

a) am I going to have a problem at all riding with a screen that hasn't been properly secured? It was the last 3 at the bottom by the dials - the top part is properly screwed on and

b) has anyone in my vicinity who is going on the BHC rideout tomorrow got any spares that they'd let me use until I can find some that fit? It looks a bit naff with 3 screws missing but I won't notice that when I'm on the bike.

:(:(

That other thing I've realised is it's quite difficult to get the screen on properly when the nose cone is fitted to the bike. I daresay everyone in the world apart from me knows this but now I realise the screen should go on before the nose cone goes back on the bike.

God, if only I had a logical bone in my body, I'd be dangerous! :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

Am off out now but will be checking the board for replies late tonight.

Should be ok short term to run with the 3 missing, but space them evenly to avoid the bottom bit flapping in the breeze.
I'd say top 2 holes with nuts, and 4th down with nuts, leaving 3rd hole down and the bottom one without. Shouldn't have any wobbly bits that way. (No, I'm talking about the screen!)

Ruth - you can get the bigger ones to go through if you wizz a 4mm drill bit through the hole.

The hole in the plastic is actually 4mm, but once it has all been painted it makes it slightly smaller and you have problems getting the bigger bolts through.

You can buy the proper size screen screw kits from Pro-Bolt for about 14 quid - http://www.tastynuts.com/ - make sure they send you the right ones though as they're specific Ducati kits (3mm bolts) and not the standard ones you've got (4mm).

i got a set of nelly when i was in the stuck, i hate the pro bolt stuff but it was the only cheap option, poor quality screws and paint work and i dont think it helped that the fabbri screen wasnt the best fit in the world but i wont but pro bolt in a hurry
