View Full Version : Crank case/chain snap guard?

I read recently that there is a DP part that can be fitted behind the front sprocket to protect the crank cases in the event of the chain snapping.

Does anyone know the part number for this item?

Not that I’m planning on snapping my chain or anything.

If only I had one four weeks ago.

My chain took out sprocket cover and made a nice whole at the same time.

For what that part is, you'd think they'd be tempted to fit that as standard, OK might be a bit OTT but if it will save you well into 4 figures, well.....

Damn right JPM, but then you could say that for all the manufacturers.

I had chains snap on me twice (not on Ducs) and seen the mess. Fortunately (for me) neither of the bikes were mine (one was a dealer's loan bike).

Also, a friend of a friend had a chain snap on a ZZR11 after going over a crest in France at about 150 - locked the back up - got very messy indeed (long and gruesome story). The little guard won't stop this sadly.

They were standard on my CBR600 and my Fireblade, different shape but they did the same job
