Quote from Doug Lofgren's website...

"One of the draw-backs of the 851/888 series has been the air-box. They respond very well to opening the air-box, but, the 888 fuel tank still causes a lot of restriction. Lifting the front of the fuel tank on an 888 can gain 3-4 HP on the dyno, even with an open air-box"

If so it seems like the cheapest of cheap performance mods...and I'm very cheap.

How would you do it? Chock it up on rubber blocks at the front? Modify the hold down clip in some way?

Or not bother?

Seen that on a couple of bikes. Not sure of the best way to do it though. Are there rubber blocks down the side that sit on the frame rails?? If so, you might be able to get a spacer under these and then adjust the hold down catch to suit?

About an inch. See pic. It's Matt Llewellyn at Mallory on an 888 Corsa in 1994.

I thought that the 888 Corsa ran a sealed airbox ? carbon airtubes feeding into a carbon airbox with adhesive rubber strips (approx 25mm thick) attached to the frame/tank to attain a seal all around - the air box top is in effect the bottom of the tank.
cheers

Has anyone tried this mod on an Exelsior Consort?

Mine only makes 2.5 bhp at the crank so an extra 3bhp would come in very useful.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Phil
