Mornin!

I know the Thunderbike race concept has already been discussed on here a couple of weeks ago. But I just thought I'd mention that an article has been posted on the DD website by the organiser of the series:

http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/desmodue/?q=node/31

Anyone care to post some comments in response?

I'm reading it ... I've seen all this on motoforum (unofficial Bemsee site) and on Visordown.

My only beef is the power to weight ration of 4lbs per horsepower. I'd like to see it drop to at least 3.5:1 ...

Otherwise I quite like the look of it, I'd be quite keen to do it!

Is that with or without pies?:P;)

Come on, TP, get yourself a bike and let's go!

Felix: Not sure either where he'll be racing next year;)

With pies, no mushy peas but with some tomato sauce :D

I've got no money to buy a bike at the moment, I'd need to sell the R ... which isn't going to happen ... I'll just have to wait and see about money in 6 months.

In the meantime, I'll be racing in Desmo Due :D

What do you reckon the winning combination will be in this new class? Up at 100 bhp/400 lbs or down at 60 bhp/240 lbs? It'll be interesting to see how this develops.

It will be very interesting I think - who knows! The fastest bikes won't be the full 400 lbs though I think.

Dunno! The best rider! :D

Is it correct that the prime motivation for this is to race Buell's? If so, I guess they would be at the heavy end, which would suggest they expect them to be competitive, no?

Yes - and it's a fair assumption.

I know someone entering an 800SS and it's undergone quite a diet. It will be sitting around the 80hp mark I'd imagine. Depending of course on how long it's been running before the dyno run is done .... ;)

Which means it would weigh around 145 kg's but I'm not sure it's had that much of a diet. Hrmmm ... maybe the 1000SS is the way to go?

Or, a do what you likey single! Anyone got a Supermono they want to lend for a couple of weekends next year?

I reckon you'd have to add about 20 kg to most competitive single. On the Supermono, you have about 75-80 bhp and about 130 kg weight, and was 10 years ago! Is the weight limit on "as raced" or dry weight?

as raced, they propose to measure it at the end of the race by weighing the bike and rider, then the rider and subtracting the rider weight from the rider + bike total.
