View Full Version : Bearings
Hi
Has anyone got any good/cheap suppliers for wheel bearings and head bearings?
Also the rear hoop rose joints too.
Cheers
Andy
I just go to the local SKF or Timkin dealer with said bearing or rose joints. They are not specialist parts unless you have a 1989-90 851. Then rose joints become rude.

totally agree with that - take examples to your local Bearing Traders and they'll sort you out at a fraction of the Ducati OE pricing.
Most bearings have a number on them (probably on the outer race) which is a standard generic number. Quote that number to a bearing factor and they'll be able to provide a suitable bearing regardless of manufacturer.
Try and go fo a quality make like SKF though, I got some nameless rear wheel bearings that were probably made in the far east somewhere, looked OK, fitted OK and lasted 3 months
Tried my local supplier - he reckons the bearing was dicontinued in 1993 and no bearing manufacturers still make them.....................!!!
Has anyone got any from anywhere recently ???

Bearing Traders in Bishop Auckland, got my new head bearings there.
The Wheel bearings ring a bell - checked my little book and what I had to do was buy Ducati stuff, essentially there's a new inner spacer to go with the bearings for the front wheel + 2 metallic spacers and if I remember correctly the rear wheel takes 4 bearings (2 in the cush) and again with a new central spacer piece. Once you have the Duc OE stuff replacement afterward is the cheaper bearing trader route.
cheers

Thanks guys, tried a couple more bearing traders in my area and they still are available. The people I tried first are obviously just crap or couldnt be bothered...takes all sorts...
anyway they are on the way by post, ideal.
