Is there a trick way to remove the ignition switch from the top yoke? I had planned to get the hacksaw on the job but it looks like it could be taken off rather than cut off. We are talking 600ss here.

Drill the anti tamper heads off the bolts or if your really lucky a center punch.

There are two hex type bolts that hold the switch in place, they screw in from the underneath of the top yolk.

I have the yoke off but the ones on mine are not hex head they are conical with an internal thread. I thought that maybe they could be screwed off with a bolt and a lock nut? The last time I took one of these off was with a large hammer.

Mike they are Break head anti tamper bolts, its worth tapping them in an anti clockwise direction as 9 times out of ten they will undo, if they dont just drill em.

Mike ,i removed mine which were the same as yours by putting a hacksaw cut across the conical end.Then using a wide flat blade screwdriver i unscrewed them.About the most straight forward thing thats gone to plan ive done so far

No no no no!

They are really easy to remove, you just need to use your noggin!

Find an M6 bolt of about 40mm in length, then find a matching nut. Thread the nut onto the bolt quite a way, about 2/3 of the way on.

No thread the bolt into the anti-tamper (cone) nut underneath. Make sure you get about 1/2 the bolt in there, but not so it bottoms out.

Now wind the nut off the (normal) bolt and tighten it right up against the cone nut.

Now you can undo the bolt (not the nut) and this should take the cone nut off with it.

If it doesn't, tighten the nut onto the cone nut and repeat.

what iv done is move the switch so its next to my rev counter. iv placed my rev counter in 996 housing so it fitts really well just bolts on to the frount sub frame

I thought it must be somthing like that with the lock nut, will give it a try in the morning. The idea is to get rid of the switch not to relocate it.
