Well guys I would just appreciate some info/feedback from all of you that are using a slipper clutch.....

What kind of grease do you use to lubricate it and how often , also what have you used and how did you find it lasted?

The clutch i have is a ramp only one and I`am looking for something that won`t be flung off within 50 miles... so of a decent consistency.

Thanks

Gav

Do you have the tools for taking it apart?

I've had very good results with MOS2 (molybdenum disulphate) grease, or what is commonly used in CV joints for cars. You want a grade that has an extended temperature range, something that has life beyond 100 deg. C. A product called "molyslip" works well. Check with your local motor factor.

Hi Gav,

JHP us this stuff, from this place (so do I):

http://www.londontools.co.uk/

Rocol 10040 Dry Moly Paste 100g Ref: ROC10040

ROCOL ASP ANTI-SCUFFING PASTE.
ROCOL ASP Anti-Scuffing Paste is a soft paste containing a high concentration of molybdenum disulphide providing a thin dry film able to withstand highloads and temperatures of up to 450 degrees Celsius in air. It gives a dry lubrication of plain bearings, slides and gears.
Anti-seize treatment for threaded connections.
*Dry lubrication does not pick up dust or dirt.
*Gives lifetime lubrication at light loads or under heavy loads at low speed.
*Prevents seizure of threaded connections arising from high temperatures or high load.
100grm. Tube.

Hi I use the same anti scuffing paste as JHP on my Bucci slipper. I just use a very small amount where the ball bearings sit and a little on the star spring (made that up, dont know the correct name for that spring).

Ive just stripped mine having done just a couple of hundred miles since I last gresed it, as Im off to the South of France this Friday on the beast. Was advised by JHP to grease it again before I went on the trip, so I have.

Dont know the real answer of when and how often. I suppose when the gear change isnt as slick.

But I am looking at doing a few thousand miles on the old girl over the next 10 days without greasing it during this time, so I will let you know.
I would be interested to know the though.

Thanks for the opinions guys, have gone with the Rocol option for a start and will see how we go....

Andy as for tools....how hard can it be , set of mole grips and a spanner should suffice shouldn`t it?

No, you'll need a 4 pound lump hammer as well
