I know this has been covered but I can't find it for the life of me!

My 996 will not start, the battery if fine, fuel pump and lights come, the kill switch is in the off position but there is absolutly nothing when you hit the start button.

Any help please :(

I have the suicide stand that if in gear with the stand down. it'll start!!!
Is that what you ment Monty?

Start solenoid?? Is it clicking. If not sounds suspect

Bike was running fine on Thursday night, left it over the weekend then nothing.

Do you know where the solenoid is ?? could be worth a look see. Check the wires for tightness and corrosion. If ok check for voltage at the solenoid. and report back

By The battery, Find the Thick wire coming from starter motor, Follow it back. it will end at the solenoid,

Dave 90% of the time this problem is caused by the connector block in the back of the starter solinoid not making a good contact or even falling out, you will see many a Ducati with it tie-wrapped in, often just wiggling it while pushing the start button works, well it always did on my old 916

The sidestand bypass might still be the issue, it was on Lily's bike...

I had similar on my ST and it was one of the relays gone a bit green round the gills. Trouble is that there are so many interlocks that without a wiring diagram it's difficult to say....why did my 888 fuel pump refuse to work when one of the fuses in the fuse box was loose? Nothing to do with the fuel pump fuse but must have been in the circuit somewhere.

same thing happened to my 916, it was the solenoid
there is a white two pins connector, check that this is not loose.
I still changed the solenoid and all was well

Hello Dave996

as Skids says above, the solinoid is in red and No.22 sometimes works lose
may work checking all connectors to the battery.

I had a simular problem on my 748 turn out to be a dodgy earth from the alarm.

Just my 2p.

little yellow wire in the back of the solonoid! should do the trick

Loose earth from the battery to the mount behind the rear brake resevoir. (At the resevoir end)
