I fitted one when I first got my bike - very good and fully adjustable - comes with 3 different cams!

If using the 749/999,most people just fit a 996 oe one,as the ratio is like q action unit,in comparison, and cheaper !!!

this is NOT a good idea as it only has one cable - the 749/999 has two - open and close is controlled by the cable and not by the return spring!

heres mine,i got me a 996 throttle twist grip then bin the 996 cable as its too short, then with your 999 cable -i took it to a local cable maker who replaced the inner cable while threading the metal 996 housing adjuster, you want to retain the 999 cable as the outer cable has a plastic coat inside which make for a smooth action. i know of lots of 999s thet have had this done without any spring problems. failing that pro v twins can sort you a rs cable to replace the 999 cable for around £70-£90?. my rework cable set me back £10.

Pro Twins wanted £200 for their mod - they said that they had to modify the spring - RUBBISH.

Either mod works fine WITHOUT a spring mod!

i've used a 999 and the throttle is to light and has too much travel, the single cable one was much better. And they still fit a single cable to the s4rs so carn't be too much wrong with it.

Hi guys,

Just saw one on JHP's website. Not sure what it's like but if it's anything like their other products I'm sure it will be good.

its the first "mod" i did on my 999,it had a better feel to it over the standard throttle, its not as loose as the standard. it feels just right as i have limited wrist movement.

Yes the 999 has 2 cables for a reason, im told this is because when the engines are in a tuned state (with the single cable throtles) the racers were experiancing a delay in the engine shutting off after hacking down the straight. the 2 cables means that when backing off the throttle this manually closes the butterfly,

so if protwins are doing a spring modification then this would appear logical, should this info be accurate.

I think that this is because until recently there has not been much option other than fitting the 996 twistgrip etc,

what wrong with the 996 throttle that you have? the 999 range need it as they operate over about 90degrees as std

Hi all,

Since having my 999r I have struggled with the throttle turn. After all the above and speaking to the guys at JHP I've decided to have one fitted while my bike is in for service. I'm picking it up on Saturday assuming the weather is ok and I'll let you all know what it's like. Hopefully a lot better!!!!
