Does anybody know where you can get on off those stick-on converters from KPH to MPH that you place over the face of the speedo. :puzzled:

If you want a mechanical convertor that fits between the speedo cable and the speedo pm me as I have one off an old bike that should fit.

I'd possibly be up for it if Loz ain't interested.

How does the machanical converter work, as you would still have the dial in KPH. Have seen a couple of speedos but they are asking about £90-£100.

Does a KPH speedo mean an MOT fail?

Thanks

How does the machanical converter work, as you would still have the dial in KPH. Have seen a couple of speedos but they are asking about £90-£100. The mechanical convertor is a tiny gearbox that goes between the cable and the speedo (or between the cable and the wheel unit on some models). It reduces the speed of the cable so that the speedo reads mph instead of kph. To make it legal you will need to cover the kph legend on the dial with an mph one. The convertor is better than a sticker because not only does the speedo read mph directly but the trip and odometer read in miles as well.
The speedo is not part of the Mot.
