Bikes been stored for 3 months or so on a optimate.Started up first time & ran for about 10 secs & stalled, will turnover but not fire.Took out top plug, bit black but dry.
I don"t no whether this is connected to a prob i was having last summer,it would want to cut out a high revs e.g. overtaking a car or at high speeds,it feels like you"ve hit the rev limiter. The bikes a 853r any help would be appreciated.

That"s what i thought as the reserve light was on,so i drained what was in the tank & filled with fresh petrol, you can see & smell petrol squirting onto top of butterflies you can also hear pump priming.
Thanks for reply

WEEKSY!!Just when you were showing some mechanical ability!Since when did fuel injected bike have carbs?:P
Weeksy,851's are injected too!
Go and stand in the corner!
Ok,where were we?Oh yes bike not starting,......er dodgy kill switch? Can get corroded if it comes into contact with a lot of water.
Or dodgy engine management relay?

Check that your fuel lines inside the tank aren't split. A common problem with the later 4 valvers, not sure about the 851....

... or that you haven't kinked the hoses last time you took the tank off...!
