Went to start the 996 today, after about three weeks and it would not fire up, just kept spinning the starter motor. After panicing and then looking up previous threads on this subject I jumped across from my car battery and she started.
I do not have an Optimate (a good investment me thinks) only a 6 amp car battery charger. I have removed the battery but does any one know if it is wise to use such a car charger?
I have a Datatool Veto Evo alarm so this is probably the cause of the discharge.
When I connect the battery back will the alarm sort it's self out without any problems?

Had the same problem with mine after being left at the repairers for 3 months. The optimate just wouldn,t charge the battery at all. I used a car battery charger just to give it an initial kick and then put it back on the optimate.

Hope this helps.
