NO! I meant gearbox of course ;)

Braking for Druids yesterday I found that the gear lever had a habit of staying down until i let the clutch out, which makes it impossible to go down more than one gear at a time... the chain is in good nick/tension, so does anyone have ideas as to what might be causing it?

make sure that the gear linkage isn't catching your crankcase. It's quite easy to adjust the lever and cause contact.
If that's ok, it could be the spring on the gear selector arm????

I will have a look at it later matey, although I dont see why letting the clutch out would allow the lever to return to its normal position again!!!

It doesnt happen everytime either which makes it harder to trace the cause :(
