On just a purely cosmetic front, can the Ohlins forks which are spec'd on the 749R with the solid radial brake mount fit straight onto a 748s? Would the forks fit in the std 748 fork clamps? Additional I would need new calipers but would i still be able to use the std diameter discs or are the 749R discs larger?

I find the std brake setup perfectly adequate, but having dirty thoughts on how good this setup would look on my 748!....

I think that I have been told in the past that they are shorter than the 748 ones.

They do fit, you need the triple clamps (53mm top - same as Showa and 56 bottom). If they´re shorter, just mount them lower to get the proper ride height. Shouldn´t be a problem.
