When it's that cheap why not go fully comp?

rockhopper

Well last year when i checked they wanted over £600 for fully comp!

Just done an online check and it comes back at £190!!!!!!

But on a bike that only worth £3500 on a good day i'm not sure it would even be worth claiming if it was written off. £500 excess, incresed premiums for five years afterwards etc.

I'd be interested in other peoples opinions though. Renewal date is 29th of June so i've got a few days to decide.

Just tried Norwich Union Direct to see if they could quote me happy. Well i certainly had a good laugh!!!

Full Comp, £600.85
TPFT, £464.40

and even though i filled out the form to say it was an ST4 the quote kept coming back as an ST2.

Unbelievable.

Know what you mean, can't you get a "protected" NCB too? At least you'd get enough back for a deposit on another bike if you had to claim. May not be a lot to some people but I.M.O. the remaining 3k seems an awful lot to throw down the road as an uninsured loss for the sake of a hundred nicker. Sorry to tempt fate and all :alien:

OK I'm slightly longer in the tooth than Rockhopper at 40 and a bit.
My renewal with Carole Nash gives fully comp protected NCB and full Euro recovery etc for £359.
This may sound expensive, but going abroad twice a year the Euro breakdown would cost me at least £115 on top so I is happy.

Naaaah, wouldn't bother Mort...
I mean, they're only bothered if it would make it a higher theft risk.
I reckon if you mentioned someone had painted it, they'd give you at least a 50% refund on your policy...
:lol::lol::lol:

Only kiddin mate.......:P

Okay, well i've re read the article in Ride mag this month and it looks like fully comp might be worth it. I'll give Carloe Nash a bell tomorrow but Bennets at £190.79 has got to be worth a look!

Andy, i guess your more expensive because of your job and its an newer bike than mine even though i'm younger?

Dont really understand why Morts insurance is so expensive though cos he's an old bugger with a blue bike.:D:D:D

I'm 48, only been back on bikes again a couple of years, so only 2 years NCB

Best quote from Bennetts on a 2001 ST2 that's probably only worth 3K with a following wind and a blind punter - £425 fully comp with legal protection, breakdown assistance and a £250 excess

Best from Ducati Insurance - £320 for the same deal

Sorry Mort, i love you really!

Zenith were close but no cigar, £228 fully comp.

I'll give Carole Nash and Ducati Insurance a bell tomorrow.

Your cover looks interesting Andy but its just too much money for me.

For everyones info i'm 38, no claims, convictions or points, garaged bike, four years no claims. carry pillions, SDP only, riding since 1990.
