Hi,

I'm fitting a translogic dash to my 996 and am after a couple of connectors to avoid disturbing the bike wiring. The connectors I am after are a 6 way and 10 way (female inserts)
The 6 way is available from various distributors but I can't find the 10way anywhere.
One way would be to buy a second hand loom with these on and strip them down. There is one on Ebay but more then I want to pay for a couple of connectors.

Does anybody have any old looms with these connectors on that I could buy off them.

Hi Col
Iam soon to be building a loom for my RGV500 and will be using these connectors. I have looked for the best price for them but they are pretty expensive for what they are. I have to say i havent seen a 10 way connector. And this seems to be the cheapest place to buy them from.

Col,
amp doesn't make this connector in a 10 way...

I've looked at their catalogue and they only go up to 6 way.
Are you sure it is an superseal variety, and not something different ?

http://www.tycoelectronics.com/catalog/menu/en/10238

I usually get my connectors from RS (if in a hurry as they aren't cheap),
www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu (most of the time),
www.autosparks.co.uk,
http://www.autoelectrics.net/wiring.html,
http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk (second choice).

Hope that helps.

Hi John,

I'm not sure that it is, it just looks exactly like the 6 way which I'm sure is made by Amp (Tyco)

It is the lower one on the left in the photo.

Col,

can you post a picture of the end of the connector please.
I need to see if it has round, flat, or square pins. Also, is that the socket end or the plug end.

It looks like a Delphi connector to me, but its tricky to tell from that picture.

I'd go with a Delphi

You guys are amazing.
It is the female end that I need. I don't have any other pictures John. the picture I put up was pinched from someone elses build project story.
It certainly looks like a Delphi.

Maybe the 6 way is a Delphi as well?

almost certainly the 6 way is the same. One of the tell-tale signs is the rib down the side of the connecting part of the connector (the bit that pushes into the mating half, if that makes sense).

So to be clear here, what you need is the connectors shown in your picture (and the link Kev has given), not a mating half to what you've shown ?

If so, i'd buy them from the link Kev has given as the prices are fairly sensible (I've not used them before - good find !).
Don't forget to buy the cable seals as well as the crimps. ;)

You might have to get a bit inventive on how you crimp the cables because your not going to want to buy a crimp tool, it just wouldn't be cost effective.

Have fun :)

Correct John, I basically want to replicate the loom shown in the photo. When I start stripping the bike down I will be able to see exactly what I do need.
We do have a selection of crimp tools here at work but I know all connectors are different, I will probabably solder them.
Thanks again.

Hi Mate,

I have an 8 way male/female and a 10 way female. The 10 way i used when I had my 748/853 and used it to connect a digi dash into the original loom, which sounds like what you want!Pics below:

I may have some spare sockets if you need them,If i don't,I can probably get you some.

Thanks to Jasper for the 10way connector.
I'm still having trouble locating the 6way. Having removed the headlight I can see the connector and it is not an Amp type but is a Delphi as well. The 6 way doesn't seem to be stocked by the Company that was suggested in this link.

Hi mate,

sorry, you only said you wanted the 10 way.I have a 6 way as well!!

My fault, intially I thought they were Amp ones in which case the 6 way was avaiable from lots of places but now I see they are Delpi, I'm struggling to locate the 6 way.

Thanks to everyone, especially Jasper. I now have all the connectors I needed to make up a loom for my Translogic dash.
Although a 6 way Delphi connector is fitted on the 996's clocks it is compatable with the 6 way Amp connector. The 10way is only made by Delphi.
You live and learn!
