View Full Version : 3 Race format
To save from repeating myself in every thread, I decided to get around to posting a vote on the 2-day/3-race weekends (namely Cadwell, Anglesey and Snetterton):
1) 1st race is non-championship, all 3 grids from Qualifying.
2) All 3 races are Championship, all 3 grids from Qualifying (and drop 3 worst results).
3) 1st Race is a Qualifying race to determine grids from finishing position.
4) 1st Race is a Qualifying race to determine grids from best lap.
I accept that the vote may not determine the final decision, but it will be interesting to see which way it goes. Don't worry, it is a closed vote so no-one can see what you voted for.
its neck and neck at the moment with two votes cast.... .......
Mark.
ps if A gets it then it should still be drop two rounds.

Sorry, that probably wasn't that clear. The only one that would change the drop 2 results rule is the second option (hence the note in brackets). The other 3 options keep the weekend to only 2 points scoring races, so would stay with just dropping 2 results.
Ho ho, that's made it close!

Ron, is there any way for you to know that these are votes cast by people that they affect i.e. DD racers, and not anyone that happens accross this thread?

Whether the first race is, or is not a qualifying race of some form, will there be trophies?

I can't because I didnt want to make the votes public. The Mods could... But does anyone else come here?! ;)

Just allow for one per race... They are all about the same size!
Going to try for a clean sweep like you nearly managed at Pembrey?!

Just to put my two cents in. Why would you want to pay for 3 races but one of them is'nt a proper race it's a qualifer for the next two races?
We have track time allocated to qualify so why waste a race.
I want to race, not race too qualify in the next race.
In reality all 4 options are a race. I'm surprised so many went with the last option. I dont see what people think they will gain from it. I would have thought people would go for a straight championship race... That is what we are there for.
... And only one vote so far for what is actually planned to happen.

....and 43.75% want straight qualifying and 3 races from the same qualifying grid ;)
I think Skids needs to talk to NE/Hottrax to see if they would be prepared to set a new grid based on fastest lap.
So what is going to happen? It would be nice to know with this affecting the next round....
3 Championship races please!

Then how come I was following you around Mallory for 17 Laps?!?!? ;)
I vote for 3 championship races. I dont want to put my bike under stress for 18 laps for a qualifying or a non championship race. After seeing how so many of the top bikes out there have died already in just 2 rounds I wouldnt want to run the risk.
Sadly I think with 3 races in a row we are sure to see some DNF or even DNS...

I may be wrong but i thought this was all sorted out by Skids and the RC ?
I remember getting a email with the final format for the season :)
If there was I am sure I missed it, or missed the importance of it. I have one confirming 1 x 15 lap race Sat and 2 x 15 lap races Sun, but I cannot remember one stating how they were being handled. If someone does have it and wants to enlighten me....

Holy crap 45 laps over two days + the Fri pratice and Quals and warm-ups, that will stop all the old farts taking the trophies home

The way Bradders has upped his game this year i can seriously see him going home with at least one trophy this year.
Sadly I think with 3 races in a row we are sure to see some DNF or even DNS...
That is why I suggested 3 dropped results to keep everything fair if someone has a bad weekend.

Seconded.
Just got my email from the RC. Sat to be run as Brands/Mallory, then a non-championship race on the Sunday (the Sun grid based upon Race 1 finishing positions).
Makes Sun a bit pointless, but a bit of fun none the less.

Only a bit pointless. I was expecting one Sat and two champ on Sunday. Why isn't there any dialogue.

I agree with Phil. Something like this should have been at the very least discussed/debated.
Some people may have made arrangements which prevented them from racing on the Saturday now they will miss out on points.
Could be a first with no starters on the Sunday grid.
If it ain't broke, etc

WHINGE WHINGE WHINGE WHINGE WHINGE
There was only ever going to be one race on Sunday, so you would HAVE to do Saturday for quallifying and at least one championship race,
A lot of YOU whinged about having race one as a quallifier, while others whinged about having 3 long races that would stress their engines
The rules at the start of the season say there are two point scoring races per round,
To Me Anglesey is a long way to go for just one day so to have a extra practice and an extra race for a extra £35 makes the trip more worthwhile
Sometimes I wonder why I bother
bradders
29-Apr-2011, 22:17
think this is a good solution for all the options put forward
have thought about whether to come home sunday morning and not race, still thinking about it as I reckon I face a 7hr drive towing the trailer, but as Skids says you gotta pay anyway so I'll be treating it as a practice session/fast trackday. Practice practice practice for me-----and I can pack everythuing up before so bike in and gone early pm with luck

Suits me racing on the Sat :) , will have a blast Sat night then some fun on Sunday, bit of knee down posing for the camera then plenty of time to pack up and go.
Even BSB/WSB dont do 3 races. Would be knackerd and sore doing a Fri/Sat/Sun.

I would have said practice sat then a point race and second point race on sunday, gives time for bikes to cool down and any repairs to be made if there are fallers in sat race, but what do i know i just go to have fun and do what i can.

Hey Kev, I never whinge.
I just express my opinion based on the fact I may not know what I am talking about.
Kev, you have a thankless task. Someone would complain either way (my vote proved that). However, I'm not sure many would moan about 3 championship races.
However, looking at what is proposed.... last year when we had a non-champ race on Sat a lot of people sat it out, even though it was good practice for the race. Often the grids were only half full... So when it is non-championship, too late for extra practice for the race, and so far from home, I can see a lot of people going home. Just the way it is.

I agree its a difficult job for Kev and i dont envy him, i am now however trying to see if i can get out of my pre booked pre paid for Saturday night accomadation and not loose any money, as i cant see any point in me staying over untill sunday to do what would basicaly be a one session trackday.
A better solution would be as i mentioned before Practice over race distance, Qualy, point race Saturday and second point race Sunday with same grid position.
To be fair Kev, you should consider it a job well done that this is the only thing we are "discussing".

Don't forget this is Anglesey being discussed. By Saturday eve all the gazebos will have blown down and the rain will have flooded the paddock..............Sheep will be wandering round chewing on race scrubs and with a wry grin on their face as the stupid englishmen figure out why the welsh even inhabit the island. I love anglesey and will ride sunday whatever.

FFS, it's not really much different than previous years, just the days swapped over.
Those who didn't want to do both turned up Saturday and only raced Sunday, this year it's vice versa and like Craig said we can have a good craic Saturday and those southern lightweights who can't handle it can stay in bed and listen to the real boys race if they've not already ran away back to mummy! :frog:
FFS, it's not really much different than previous years, just the days swapped over.
Which makes it totally different, because it means you can't use the non-champ race as practice....
Still, at least we have a decision.
I have been worried about 3 straight days because work is so crazy for me at the moment so its welcome news to me and I very much doubt I will be there on the Sunday. :(
Friday to learn the track then grab a couple of cups on Saturday and leave a bit more space on the grid for peeps for the Funday race!
