so we'll see what airbox v non-airbox makes, and the trade off 2 1/2 kilos v any loss of power

praying for 68 hp so it can be detuned for monster midrange ;)

Doesn't that bugger up your tank ambitions?

bradders

probably...unless I can do something like yours or smash the tank up! Got a few weeks to decide on that yet

Tank was hammered, but the airbox also looks modified. It looks like it has new sides that are angled in.
(it might be easier to use an 851 tank! ;)

Paul, was that airbox with lid on? Me , being a dumbass, have un-neatley cut out the intake stacks from existing airbox. Looks like i could be repairing it this weekend and looking at how to fit the great big plastic lump underneath 748 tank:(

lid off Mike. In my mind, it may be make a f'glass airbox mold or same size which can be cut down and filter added. Would need dyno again check all ok. Or - cut bottom of tank out - hammer! - and see how that goes

as an aside, with airbox off very difficulty to srat from cold and PC had to be disconnected at first as way too lean. Wouldn't suggest running with PC connected before dyno - who knows what outcome

i know of a 620 which has just come of the dyno and is running no air box just trumpets and foam type filters and is making 65 at the rear wheel and has a lovely smooth power curve .

lol go for it

didn't want to spend a £500 or a grand getting it sorted, so back on and >63hp so happy with that. Torq all over the place was worse, and where it was likely to cost lots sorting, whereas now its makes everything just a little earlier and holds it for longer

I can live with a couple bhp :D

Being 10% down last year didn't slow me too much! ;)

(So I'm sure 2bhp won't slow you too much Bradders)

and I was a lot more than 2 BHP down last year, it also did me no harm.

Ruban Xaus said it all, "Today I win or crash".
Worked for me, well most of the time.

nope...formula is pretty simple...

big balls + stupidity + over confidence = 5 hp at least

I wasent sugesting you were down on power or he was up on power .i thought you guys were talking airboxes . weather to use one or not so my point was you can get good horse power without the air box .

yep understand Kev, could be different if tuning ecu or nemesis v PC too.

Dyno guy said could be done, but its all about air flow, filter used, getting the trade off between whats fairly straight forward versus more complex, and for 1 1/2 hp or whatever it would be a lot more costs and the benefit did stack up.

means I have to rethink the tank - thats the only reason I was removing the airbox - and looking at how Ron's is done I'm still going to see what i can do. Worst case its an extra 2 kilos

but bike in a far better position than last year. Suspension properly done by people who know what they are doing, engine in good nick and within a whisker of power limits. And without too much complexity for me to worry about

I would load the Powercommander with the nearest map to the setup I wanted to run beffore arriving at the Dyno
At least a map for a 620 running open pipes and open airbox and make sure the throttle position was set up

Oi, I'm worried my engine about to blow now?!  I know it could do with an extra few bhp but I like to keep excuses in the bag so not going to chase the extra ponies just yet! ;)

I knew the suspension was made from solid bits of scaffolding, but that's all sorted now

was a little home made at the fromt, but the Ohlins did an ok job ;) and don't worry; I go no where near an engine!

seemed to come out OK, the right side of legal with power landing earlier and holding longer than when I got it from Nick. 5% more power, torq less improvement, but lovely and flat and more revs now too

I do wonder if I'd have been over the power limit with 2 cans tho, as every bit of info I've read says the 2:1 reduces power a little at the top end. I'm sure someone will be along on a mo and point out the opposite but that's what most tuners have said...

overall happy - shame I wont be using the 916 tank as the extra weight saving and look/feel would have been nice

can't recommend Dynotech at Basingstoke enough. Great VFM and really do care about what they are doing. The passion comes through for sure.

have stuck the graphs up on my FB page - no point in hiding, wouldn't want anyone thinking I was doing the dirty when my fat ass beats em this year :biaggi:
