Fuel pump

When I first had the T8 the fuel pump sounded quite loud and primed fairly quickly it now sounds as if it is straining to prime,is it on the way out and how much are they?
any help on this greatly appreciated as i dont want to be stranded somewhere.

where is the fuel filter on the 888 if this hasn't been replaced then it may be clogging up and restricting fuel flow

Yep,could be the fuel filter,as Skids said.The filters are around 6 or 7 quid to replace.If your Duke dealer has'nt got one,go to a BMW dealer.(Take the old one as a pattern.)

Forgot to mention,the filter is inside the fuel tank.Get to it by removing the filler cap and boss,then unclipping it from the tank along with the pump and pipework.(Its better if the tank is drained first!;) )Its an aluminium cylindrical thingy!

Im with the other lads..'proper' dealers are sposed to replace this and inevtiably (some) dont most of the time :mad: The T8 is reknowned for having a struggling fuel pump due to clogged filters.

Worst case.if you do need a fuel pump then I do have a brand new one here with some special discount for a man of taste like yourself !!! The part number is 43040041A, and its marked up '996/M900'..not sure if they are generic but the offers there if it will fit ..? Nelly/Kev..any ideas

If you find you need a pump,and if Nats pump wont fit,try your local Weber car specialist.My mate got a pump for his 907ie for half the price that Ducati wanted.Take your old one along as a sample.

Ian - If the fuel filter is blocked it puts extra strain on the battery/charging system since the pump is running more often and thus drawing more electrical load. My own bike had a clogged filter some time before I bought it (according to the history/service log), and when a new one was fitted, the 'flat battery' syndrome it was prone to was miraculously cured! Strange but true.
