<Makes note to forget about ever fitting Ohlins front end...> |
Thats a myth about them needing replacing after 2000miles, mine lasted well over 9000 including 15 trackdays and loadsa hamfisted wheelies before beginning to leak! I'm tempted to send my suspension to someone who knows what they are actually doing and send shockwave suspension the bill :flame: [Edited on 14-9-2004 by DJ Tera] |
Well according to Ktec, they don't last that long on average. I can see how yours lasted 9000 miles though DJ. All that commuting through London at 20-30mph, while the rest of us are doing real speeds on real roads.:P;) |
Commuting at 30mph? LMAO :lol::lol::lol::lol::devil: |
Roy, who the blazes are shockwave suspension, I have been around race bikes and specials for years and never heard of them. I did the Ohlins forks on my mate Dallas's R1 a few weeks back without any problems, we used the seals as Dallas was told by who ever he talked to at Harris that they wouldn't sell him the seals as he wasn't quallified to do them. Next time I see Steve or Lester I will mention this to them especially as I now have Ohlins forks myself and intend to do my own servicing. As for your bikes behaviour it sounds as if the forks aren't set up equally, could be oil level/air gap, could be the adjusters bolted onto the damping rod at different heights. Kev |
Shockwave was recommended by a DSC member, can't remember who, guess I should have stuck with what I know and gone to K-tech but you live n learn! All I can say is avoid like the plague :flame: Thing is Kev, it wasn't too bad at Brands so I'm thinking it could be that oil leak has dropped the level in that fork :( Worst thing is I can barely afford to get the bike serviced at the moment (the half system is going on ebay to pay for it) let alone have the forks taken apart again :barfy: |
Why can't you just take it back and explain what has happened? I'm sure they would at least have a look if it's as bad as you say, and may even rectify any problems FOC. |
The 'work' was done back in july, haven't really got much comeback now :( |
Always worth a try.... |
DJ I've just had my forks rebuilt by Alan Hesselden (TT racer et al). He's about 5 mins from my house and resprung, revalved, and fully serviced a second set of Showa's for me. (Which I fitted during lunch...) Total cost Parts + £30. May be worth giving him a call, and getting an idea of if he can help. Although will be tricky getting hold of over the weekend as they're testing at Pembrey from tonight. U2U me if you want his number. |
