That should be PANASONIC not panasin!

I guess if you're after one I'd be tempted to ensure it's multiregion, and has time slip also

ath748 05-Nov-2004 16:33

Yes, I'm after a TV DVD rescorder, not a PC one.

Already have the cinema surround, got a Sony DAV880 5.1 system with 42inch plasma to boot. Sweet. Just the VHS video to replace!

Thanks for all the info, will ensure it is multi-region and I think pricerunner is the way to go. Cheers all.

Off to catch my flight to Bologna now, then off to the Ducati Factory tomorrow morning. Oh yes!!

:D:D:D:D

I have the Panasonic DME-55. Works great, has all the required features, and has component out if your plasma supports it. It can be found with multiregion as well.
As I have Sky+ I did not need the HD version

Cheers guys, no I haven't bought one yet. Tempted to leave it till the Jan sales. But I should go down to Richer Sounds to have a browse. Well spotted - from W. Yorks!!

You cn buy DVDs that play AVi files now.
Worth the effort if you download stuff.

Just a word from the land of electronic gadgets. The big thing here now is HDD-DVD recorders. Biggest is now 400 GB with varying formats depending on the maker. Most of the stuff here is mainstream Japanese with a smattering of Korean and Philips, but the major Nip makers are really pumping out new stuff all the time. Most of it is now becoming digital Hi Def. Personally, I wpould stick with major brands as, even though they have problems, they have a much better track record and support system than off-brand stuff. Why come home and find the recording you so painfully set up for when you were away at work just ended up eating your disk.

But...but...but... That's illegal...! :frog:

You don't appear to be able to buy a DVD recorder yet though that plays AVI/DIVX files.
