I love a bit of metal too.... Not too keen on the thrash metal ( Pantera and the likes ) but am very partial to Metallica and then the softer types, Def Leppard, Skid Row etc ! Even just saying these names brings back fond memories of my frequent visits to the SteamHouse Pub for rock night on Sunday ! aaaahhhh.....:D:D:D:D:D:D denernernernerner ... well this thread makes me feel old as it got me think about how music was in my day!!!! First saw AC/DC in 1978/9?, - Bonn Scott days, - Powerage or Highway to Hell tour, - Hammersmith Odeon, - 6 rows from the front, - aged 14. I still have the ringing in my ears, - seriously! Saw them every tour from then for abot 10 years, - still got the 1980 Back in Black tee shirt, - still got loads of programs. Saw them support The Who once, along with some unknown called Brian Adams. I saw Def Leppard as support, then as an unsigned band, - 2 arms and Joe Elliot as a fat spotty kid! |
Hell yes! Seen a few: Rush (not that heavy I know), Maiden, Ozzy, Scorps, Alice Cooper, ACDC. Hells - you get down the Mr Kyps a lot for the tribute bands? Some cracking ones there, best ones being ACDC one, Maiden one and Limehouse Lizzy who were at Brands WSB in 2003 and were awesome (Ask Desmondo as I called him with my mobile and let him listen - he loved it (Not)) |

Best Bass players in the world - Billy Sheehan, John Entwistle (Gawd bless 'im) Best Guitarists - EVH, Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai Best Drummers - Ian Paice, Jon Bonham :smug::smug::smug: [Edited on 5-12-2004 by fatduke11111] |
best concert for me must be Thunder at Hammersmith Odeon. Thunder aren't top of my "best band" list, but the did one hell of a concert. David Coverdale came by and did a song (he brought Tawny with him which made it even better!) And then Rick Allen came on to do a solo... drinks with the band afterward too :D Saw an amazing set by richi sambora at wembly - not a good venue, too big for a decent atmosphere, but an unbelievable guitar solo. Now just waiting for Floyd to do a come-back tour!! |

Talking of old skool stuff and a bit of thrash Pantera at the Brixton Acadamy f**k**g rocked. My missus still owes you a rear lamp by the way:eureka: |
Best i saw was Van Halen in 77' i think . First gig ever by them in uk at the "Rainbow" in finsbury green, Bloody excelant. Front row we were. Support was The Tom Robinson Band and they got jeered off. Other faves would have to be Ted Nugent, Deep Purple (original line-up), And rainbow. Doogalman |
We have an excellent ACDC tribute band locally they are called ACDO! They are playing at Paradise Island in Burnley either this or next Sunday afternoon. I am not sure which as their website says it the 12-12-04 but I was in the pub last nite and they had a poster up saying they were on today! They only play Bon Scott era stuff so no Back in Black etc. They are worth watching and pretty close to the real thing. Have seen ACDC many times since 1981 at Donnington (as a 15 year old) Also Iron Maiden with Paul Dianno singing. Whitesnake in 1980 and 1981. Loads more in early 80s. Rush, Alice Cooper, Magnum (remember them?) Van Halen, Motorhead, Saxon, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, Ramones, Hanoi Rocks, Johnny Thunders, The Ian Gillan band, Motley Crue, Ratt, Cheap trick. Loads more at various Donnington and Reading festivals. I had a school mate whos dad was a partner of Phil Mcintyre promotions who put on most of the early 80s Rock bands so we used to get on the guest lists for all sorts of bands. He was a very popular lad at school! I am going to phone Paradise Island and find out when ACDO are on, anyone interested in going? www.ac-do.co.uk |
