I had a 600ss for my 1st year back, (after a 10 year layoff) but quickly found out it was underpowered and the lack of adjustments on the f + r shocks meant there was no area for any tuning, let alone fine tuning. and the lack of a second f disc meant it was underbraked (if thats a word). To deveop would have meant too much dosh on a 600 so Ive move up to a 900ssie and have had some "minor" tweaks done to her, and am now going down the route of further "minor" adjustments........for minor, read blurdy expensive, but huge grin factor and fast, ok not like a 916 or better but still quick.
Id advise doing nowt for a few months especially on the suspension side, until you are absolutely sure the 600 is where you want to stay, and that may take 20 or 30 rideouts (tho' I expect less than that), OR unless you are going to race her in Desmo Due series next year. If not wait just a while or snap up a cheap 900 ss or ssie now. If you look at the cost of the front forks, twin f discs etc Im sure that you wont get much change from 600 notes (but may be totally wrong) and that could go towards more power, top end speed, and loadsa suspension adjustments

Next, mines a crate of ice cold becks at the virtual bar.........

Finally as you have already noted, this club is absolutely great. Membership is £25 for the first year, £20 there after (unless the MT raise the annual fee) and for that you get this service but better !!!!!!!!!! and 10% off at quite a few places, including service labour costs at some Duc places (especially the one near Mansfield, good ole Nelly) as well as good deals on this board

It's a great club, and you'll find yourself in some very good company. The techy guys get a bit carried away, IMHO, but that's cos I haven't got a flippin' clue what they're on about. My skim reading skills have improved no end since I joined a few months ago.

well i have been made welcome i must say-paul is right i will stay with the 600 for a while, i do find that at the moment the front stopper single disc is more than adaquate but the brake lines need uprating to braided hoses so that will be my first mod- a mate of mine use to race bikes professionally he mentioned that some thicker oil in the front end would probably sort the non-adjustables out or some shims above the spring would help for further adjustment- i guess that is what the desmo due racers will do to their non-adjustable set ups? as for the the bike being under powered it does everything i need it too for the momentbut paul,is right i will probably up grade this time next year but am determined to stay with ducati -or maybe i just strip the lights off and go desmo due racing ? :eureka:any way wheres the bar?oh i will join when this months cheque clears!!!!!!!!!

Ask Nelly about the thicker oil/shims etc, even if he dont know the answer, he'll find it pretty quick

The thicker oil and shim trick is similar to the one played on LC's all those years ago. Only we used 10p pieces on top of the springs as they were a perfect fit......................

Crude as it sounds, it could work quite well with a bit of experimenting. Have they been serviced recently? oil change? That'd be a good start so at least you know if the standard setup is somewhere close.
That'd be the cheapest option.
After that, i'd suggest going to one of the specialists already mentioned. K-Tech are very good as are Kais in Atherton.

i reckon with current inflation rates etc a 2 pound coin might do the trick these days !!!
