You bought a thoroughbred.

Now treat it like a throughbred.

Shame Ducati didnt have that attitude eh ....

Mr C 04-Jan-2005 22:31

1 year or 6000 miles which ever comes first.

Maybe ?

GsxrAge 04-Jan-2005 22:35

No different to a car except the price!!!!!!!

most services on cars are 6'000 / 6 months interim service or 12'000 / 12 mounths.
low milage can be worse than high milage.
Stop start and then left parked up for week or two aint any good. there is moisture in the air it gets into the engine and can stick to the bores, it mixes with the oil to.

Put it another way you jump out of bed it takes a while for your body to warm up and get going and you feel stiff.
Your engine is the same untill the oil gets warmed up it ain't doing it's job properly.

I have a very good mate that owns a Ducati garage (not official) i get mates rates there. I do the donkey work the to the technical stuff:cool:
But I do most of the work myself at home anything to keep the Ducati experence as low cost as possible.

Ps I bought a peugeot 307 20,000 miles or 2 year service intervals :lol::lol::lol:

Ps I bought an Audi, it tells you as and when it needs a service, and the amount of potential time left prior to that service.

Looking at my service coupon, it says every 10000 (ive done 2000) or 12 months,
new plugs, new air filter,(well ive got the race ones) fuel filter, oil filter, and oil. Then a load of check and or lubricate stuff!
Timing belts are C Check, but there is check the valve clearances, which is a bit of a pain.
Hmmm....

You might be surprised. IL4 servicing goes
cheap
cheap
expensive
cheap
cheap
oh my god, how much

of course the ducati is still more, but the gap is less than you might think if you do high mileages

andyb 04-Jan-2005 22:53

So as my service book doesnt appear to have any different schedule in it to any other 4 valve....

Fuel filter £10
Plugs £20
Oil filter £6
Oil £20
Dont need air filters

= £56

even £40 per hour would give 10 hours to do the work. :barfy:

I thought that the 6000 mile/1 Year Service on a 749R or 999R was a belt change, but I just checked my service book and it does not say that.

I can't remember where I saw/heard that it was a belt change.

GsxrAge 04-Jan-2005 23:25

996 is every 2 years :D

dave w 04-Jan-2005 23:32

My old 999s belt change was due at 2 years...so must be the same for the R ??
