500 MILES

After coming back from Ireland and the North West I wasn't a million miles away from doing that in one day on Sunday.

You need to get used to the feel of the gear change.
I came from an R6, it was like riding a 2-stroke compared to the 996.

I would have accepted a financial loss (not known in Yorkshire) for my bike for at least three months then it all clicked and I wont/cant sell her now.

Tis worth the settling in hassles.

I have done over 10000 miles in 19 months of ownership so dont give up yet.
This includes touring to Holland and Ireland in the bouncing rain and gale force winds.

Hi Lloydy,

Yep I had the same problem coming from a CBR6. I adjusted the gear lever down a little and now give it and extra bit of wellie too. You soon get used to it, but be careful when you get excited (read Trackday) as it all goes to **** just when you don't need it!!!! or it did for me.

I am pretty certain that it is down to me. When I change down, I am not lifting my toes up off the selector, therefore, not letting it return, so when I go to click down again, I cannot..

Looks like I need to practice some more..

adjust the lever so your foot allows the lever to recenter, but from the relaxed centered position your foot has enough stroke to get gears in both directions;-up and down
