Dont remember them selling Nortons? The Luton dealer at that time for NVT was B.G.England! I have fond memories of C & H, drooling over the Dukes, as well as CB750's, Z900's and other exotica of the time :D Welcome stuart, where you in sales? I only remember one salesman Doug Lunn. Did you know him Ride safe [Edited on 23-1-2005 by Greybloke] |
Slow burning fuse C & H did sell Norton's as well as BG England, I went there in 1974 as an apprentice mechanic as we were called in those days, I think they are called technicians now, Doug Lunn was in sales he also raced a 900ss, I think he raced on the IOM. At the same time as I started C&H starting Importing Ducati & Moto Guzzi, despite all the problems with them in those days when you rode a Ducati for the first time you knew it was a bit special. As I am in the other part of the world, I'll have a Foster's please. Just bought a ST4 myself, 2004 mod. Guys (and gals) here are most helpful and the info that comes out of their noggins can sometimes be incredible. ALready helped me out with a couple of things. ST4 is fun and another real pleasure to ride. I bought a showroom demo with no miles, though a 2002 was much cheaper. I am trying to break it in properly and have stayed off high revs for the moment (gawd that is difficult). Good luck and enjoy that fine English touring countryside! |
Welcome Stu, hope you hang around for a bit and maybe come to a TD or two ... Mine's a espresso :D |
Many greetings Stu....... I'd love a pint of Old Peculiar but I'm on the New Year wagon :( half way through though - only 18 more days to go :D |
Welcome Stu. You're in my neck of the woods. Fordie is in charge of BHC rideouts. We usually meet up with him at Tesco in Dunstable, as do Glyn, WJB amongst others, then ride on to meet more members, and assorted guests including Fordie's daughter who is a demon on her Honda! The best thing about the rideouts is you're following people who know some great roads, you don't have to worry about map reading, and there are brekkie and 'liquid refreshment' stops en route. Look out for posts about impromptu meets - that's assuming you'll ride all year round. :D;) |
Thanks for the welcome, I am looking forward to doing track days as I have never done one before. I intend to ride as much as possible all year round I am just waiting for some half decent weather to get out on the ST4 and bed the new tyres in and get used to it. All I have done on it so far is a quick 15 mile round trip, I am hoping if the weather is half decent this Friday I might get a few miles in, and hopefully again on Sunday, it sure is frustrating having it sitting out there and not riding it.
