The bad news mate, is you can't move it. If the chain's tensioned correctly then that's it.

From your diagram, Ducati Leeds haven't actually got it wrong. 4.30 to 5 o'clock is just the "ideal" position. The most important thing is that the horizontal centre line through the axle is below the horizontal centre line through the eccentric.

What size sprockets are you running? If you've gone up at the rear then it's possible a new longer chain is in order. Adding a couple of links to the chain would probably put it all where you'd like to see it.

Have you got a 180 section tyre? They have a taller profile and this won't help the fitment. I disposed of my hugger when I fitted the 180 tyre as it rubbed. I also had to spacer it a bit to get it to fit properly with the 190 section tyre. I had a proper DP one.

I run a 180 in mine and still have plenty of clearance, mine is screwed into the swing arm on the RHS which I believe raises the height of the hugger giving you more clearance.

I think it's a combination of sprocket, chain, 180 tyre and crap hugger. If memory serves me correct, the Casoli hugger fits very well with all combinations.

Ok so my options are:

1) Make the chain longer and so move the wheel away from the hugger (Can i buy links?)

2) Change 180 to 190 tyre? ( whats the pros/cons here)

3) loose the hugger

4) Fit a spacer - This could be my option i think. If i could raise the bit by the chain guard by10mm it would tip the whole hugger and give me some more space. Does anyone have a picture of hoe the DP part "should fit" from both side so i can check against mine.

I have done a piccy to check i am thinking along the right lines. Please dont laugh to hard. Is it about right? Just a strip of metal with two holes in?

Re spacer, that replicates more or less what I did and no probs so far (I have a DP hugger).

chris i have a standard ductai hugger on mine and it fits fine

i'll email you some pictures that i have as its worth putting it on correctly

If you raise it by 10mm you may run into clearance issues with the exhausts when the rear suspension is fully compressed.

I did and now have a small hole where the hot exhausts have burnt through. Bugg3r...
