But unfortunately the previous owner broke the top sidestand mounting lug when he hit a pothole (it was in a trailer) :( He knocked £100 of the price though and it was easily fixed with a small bracket using a rather handily placed spare threaded hole so i bought it anyway . Is the sidestand a weakness on modern Duke's , or am i just unlucky ?

Ps. I,ll post a few pics if it ever stops raining

Congratulations on the new bike Screwy, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
My SS had had the sidestand broken off and the repair made in the way you describe before I got it. I have heard of this repair being done elsewhere but I don't think it is very common. I can take a pic of it for you if you need to see how it goes together.

Thanks Derek , its all sorted now and seems fine

I might just skim a couple of millimetre of the back of the stand casting though as the stand is a tad close to the gearchange lever though it does'nt seem to catch when changing gear .

And for any thats interested here's the bike in full

and another

Btw ignore the 944 decals they will be going sometime in the future as the previous owner assure's me its a standard engine , just ashame there laquered over :(
