Am I right in saying the Minichamps are the top models to collect?

Just getting into collecting these, how do i find out what is the right/fair price to pay for some of the rare ones. What are the rare ones in case I come across one in a shop some where?

IMHO minichamps are the best!

Good value for money & good detailing on the models!

I can only advise you on the rare Ducati 996/998 range!!

Very rare - Bostrom 00
Bayliss 00
Corser 99

Quite rare- Foggy 00
Hodgson 00
Reynolds 00 WSB wildcard (number 47)
I do know that the Katoh moviestar RCV is also very rare!!

Is the scale 1:6 the sets to go for then? Or the 1:12?

adam 05-Apr-2005 18:38

I have been going for the 1:12 type, was tempted to get a 1:6 Bayliss imola but thought it would look out of place so didnt get it.

minichamps are the 1's to collect and 1:12 is the scale to go for, the 1:6 scale doesnt seem as finely detailed for my liking, more remote control looking than a model

the hislop 02 title bike is rare as heck as they pulled it form production after his death, fetching £200+ on ebay, same story with kato

the older models are the 1's to collect thats why i have all 3 2000 models, didnt want the roberts 1 but it completes the set that could now be worth upto £500, the same reason i want the reynolds gsxr as that keeps my run of bsb champs going, similair story with the rossi set

the foggy 00 model isnt that rare as it was re-released for wdw so theres loads of those around

i use a company called trax models, get a monthly release sheet in the post and will hold your special orders, im still waiting for a couple but i trust them to send it me when theyre out, no payment and none of the crap i had dealing with grand prix legends

happy hunting guys, use your judgement on value and future demand before you pay silly money for say example a rutter rep, if you see the hislop grab it

Twinfan 05-Apr-2005 23:51

I got my Hislop rep for £70 on eBay. I must have struck lucky as every other one seems to go for well over £100. £200 is a bit optimistic...

deej 07-Apr-2005 19:56

ive seen the hislop 1 clear 200 notes before

there was a 2000 rossi rep going for over 250 the other day

its just the luck of the ebay draw im afraid

adam 07-Apr-2005 20:25

its very addictive collecting these minichamps, finding myself on the net every night looking for the rare ones. Just bought the Rossi test bike in black, very nice bike. i can see my collection growing very fast.

adam 07-Apr-2005 20:52

just bought a Hislop for £79.00 and have just been called mad by my wife.
Hummm, she just does'nt understand.

Luck she didnt know me when I would blow £1500 on one book:smug:
