At least you're both still alive, which is the main thing - looking at the remains of the bike it could easily have been a lot worse - losing the bike is only money, which can always be earned / stolen / borrowed again, I've had friends die in bike accidents and thats one thing you can never replace :( |
Hello chris99 wishing you and all parties a fast recovery, regards TopiToo |
crikey! seeing bikes like that often make me wonder how people walk away from them. I guess its replaceble and you are here to tell the tale which is a good thing. sorry to hear about your mate and hope you all make a fast recovery. |
That doesn't surprise me Chris. They will be using genuine ducati parts at official prices, using ducati labour charges. I reckon it could be put back on the road for considerably less, but I guess that just depends on whether you can be ar$ed to go through all the trouble of doing that. I brought a Cat D VFr800 about 4 years back. Its quoted repair bill was £2k5 in parts (mainly plastics, headlight, clocks, all the brackets up front, etc). By a bit of careful ringing around over a few months I got all the parts to do the job for about 800 quid. As I said on your other thread, if the frame & engine are okay you stand a chance of sorting it. If the frame is beyond repair, well, game over really as it would be cheaper to break it and buy another. Good luck mate, and best wishes to you and all the others involved. Cheers, John. |
