You will have to invest in the full 57mm Termig system or a Sil or da Vinci (or whatever it's called) but it'll never sound like the 996 though :(

i had the same thing,
standard 999R race kit on the 03 999R is crap (small exhaust exit ports), just get a 999 50mm termi back box and race air filters
