Will try changing the plates next as one of them may be warped.

Actually, I am not surprised by that. I run a whole race with a broken spider spring. The spring gets compressed so much that a break in the ring part of the spring won't affect it too much usually. Still, you need to replace it obviously.

More likely, your clutch pack height was on the lower end of the scale to begin with and now with some wear on the friction plates, it has gone below the minimum level. Inspect the friction plates. If the have friction pads left on them, put them back in but use more plates or a couple of thicker steel plates to bring the stack height back to an acceptable level. Also make sure that the spring plates have some spring left to them and have not gone flat due to overheating.

problem was that Everton had no spare plates. well one thinner one donated by skids.
the stack was on the low side but it was worth a try with the new spider.
just going to have to byte the bullet and get some new ones hey

Sorry David, no 12T plates in. stock Ducati ones will work just as well though.
If you've got the thinner plate, add it to the pack. Put it behind the pressure plate.
It'll increase the preload on the springs and provide more pressure on the pack itself.

I've got a few steel plates, various thicknesses, if you're stuck, 12 tooth Ducati ones, that is.
