Personaly TF I'd go for some AP Racing front calipers, they look super cool and will also put your mind at rest ... just an idea ....

I wouldnt know an 05 999 swingarm from one on a Blade .....

If you're going to keep it a while mate I'd consider things in this order, bearing in mind that I didn't and went straight into spending money in the engine on the 996 but if I had my time again I'd do this ...

- Suspension tailored for you
- Riding instruction (to get the most out of it)
- Exhaust (to hear the lovely sounds :D )
- Brakes
- Engine
- Engine
- Engine
- Engine

:D

With non-performing bling dispersed equally throughout those options until your wallet bursts!

modify exaust to clear new swinger , (if termis fitted) £200 ish

hack down and repaint rh fairing to clear swinger/ exaust (£ priceless)

looks better , yes

any performance gains , non :D

Just an idea TF, how about having the original swing arm powdercoated in black?
I was going to do that but sold the 749 and brought a S4r instead :D

Twinfan....recent posts would suggest you are back on the road at long last.... I may have missed it...what was the outcome of your experience?

Twinfan 20-Jul-2005 14:25

OK, OK you've convinced me. I won't bother. I quite like the look of the standard swingarm to be honest, and I agree there are better things to spend cash on.

 Love that TP! I've got the open clutch cover, rearsets, carbon exhaust heat shield and custom paint job all sorted at the moment :D

Suspension is great as it is to be honest. Standard settings on my 749S really seem to suit me. I'll leave them as they are until I feel otherwise.

Riding instruction is something I keep meaning to do. The Ron Haslam Race School is on my list.

Exhaust is sorted - assymetric Termis are on their way :D

Brakes - I'll see how my new standard stuff fares, then take it from there.

Engine - serviced as needed is great for me. I don't need any more power.

Looks like it's bling all the way then!!

I'd suggest carbon, billet and titanium as the dressage of choice :D

JPM 20-Jul-2005 14:28

Be interested to know who did the "custom paint job"

I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you ;)
