can anyone help? How do you perform a TPS reset procedure?

ttstu 15-Aug-2005 22:38

Well I've eventually got std pipe fitted put bike back together and guess what? She won't start. The amber EOBD light stays on. I've tried starting her but it doesn't sound too good. Tries to fire up though. According to the manual you turn the key on and fully open throttle and the light goes out after 8 secs. Guess what? It didn't. Any suggestions?

If it is trying to fire up does that mean it isn't the immobilizer blocking things? Wouldn't it be completely dead?

Please help!

Hold down the left hand button on the clockset and then turn key on
you should get EFI flash up and then and error code -post the error code on here as there is a list of codes around

Tried that and don't get EFI or error codes just normal dash readings. I've held down the left and right and both and no joy. Sounds like a trip to a stealer?

Make sure you have all the wires you removed around the battery box re-connected properly , also that you connected the earth wire on the ECU mounting bolt , lastly that the ECU is seated properly and the cam locks fully clipped home.

If it still won't start , oops :(

ttstu 16-Aug-2005 08:52

Earth wire on mounting bolt don't remember that. Do u know what a fidley job it is to get to the ECU? Oh well another evening scrabbling around on my knees.

Keep suggestions comong though as I'll try them all.

The key is recog. by the ecu as the code thing flashes as normal. She also try to start ie I get a big pop from the engine when I press the starter. So it's not the immobilizer thing.

Did you disconnect the front coil when changing the cpu and have forgot to re-connect?

Can't understand why you cannot get an error code to show if the engine management light is on!

Having swapped out ECU's 4 times now yes I know just how fiddley it is , it gets easier each time though.

The wire I refer to is black I think , single wire with circular spade , goes undernut on front ECU mounting bolt , easyily missed ;)

Good luck :burn:

Well we checked all the wiring and everything seems ok. Eventually got her to start but amber EOBD light was still on and she sounded a bit lumpy?

Think I'll have to get an expert to look at her.
