This sounds more like a connection pooling issue with the webserver than and actual SQL issue. Anyway here if you need any help.

Thanks mate, I think you could be right .. this isn't my strongest skillset I'll admit ... I don't even do hands on anymore, more infra design ... but I do what I can.

Mine is limited as well I'm a Unix Systems ANALyst by trade (Deal with ****holes all day) but have been spending a fair bit of time developing our intranet which as I said is a MySQL postnuke backend.
