Both the P7 and P8, with the appropriate chip, can run dual injectors as in the SPs. In these cases the second injector joins in at higher revs and throttle openings to get the required amount of fuel into the engine.
The P7 has identical fuel/ignition maps for front and rear cylinders, and in fact it only has one map which is applied to both front and rear. The P8, with its larger memory has two maps, one for the for the front cylinder and one for the rear. Ducati did not take advantage this facility on the 888, and made the front map the same as the rear. The FIM chip has different maps for front and rear, and is probably the best chip for the 888.

Thanks guys I reckon I am catching up now... tps/ecu/eprom... also clear why the eproms are not interchangeable P7/P8.
Anyone use the FIM chip with the P8 ecu , pleased with the results? I would hope their eprom still has the rev limiter included? I note on http://www.fuelinmoto.com.au that ProTwins LTD are their UK distributor.

I have used the FIM 222 chip in the 1.6m ecu in my 888 and it's excellent. Total recomendation. It'll be interesting to see how it copes with all the uning work too.

Hi Keith
I dont know if this will help but ProVTwins sold me a FIM chip to fit in my 93 strada, it didnt work, when i took it up there to get the Hyperpro suspension set up they try'd another chip in case it was faulty but it turned out to be a P7 ecu not the P8 that should have been fitted.
the FIM chip does not work in a P7 ecu.

I appreciate the P7 won't work with any of the dual map P8 upgrade chips but I've actually got no complaints about the fuelling as it is. I am, however, intending on getting Nelly to check the CO when I've got it all back together just to make sure that its not too environmentally friendly! I'm just curious how the -038- and -039- chips differ and if the P8 actually does anything differently when fitted with this same single map chip (if indeed Ducati carried on using the same chips on the 888 Strada when they swapped from the P7 to P8).

I took the 1.6M loom and replaced the P8, ign modules and loom completely.

pretty easy really. Oh yes; I added the complete 996 engine too. LOL.
