Though, I'd also add I was never so happy to sell a car as I was that one.

I owned an IS200 sport for about 7 months a couple of years back.

Nick, we had one as a pool car for 2 years here, after it had been used for 10 months by a senior manager.
Did just over 110,000 miles in that time, had a dent on every panel:lol: dinked wheel rims - but still started on the button, and no mech probs at all in its history when it went, just the routine servicing that it had.

I've got one. Bought new 12 months ago. If you want to try one out, pop around and try mine.

It's an IS200 SE though, not the sport.
No less economical than the Cooper S I had before, can comfortably knock out the miles. Dealer servicing's not too expensive, and the service is exemplary.

As an example of their customer service standards, I took mine in for it's 10K service back in may. It took exactly the length of time they stated (unlike BMW / Merc and others I've dealt with :flame: ). They also apologised that they were going to have to replace ALL the wheels as they'd spotted some paint flaking from the alloys.

A few weeks later I got a call to say the wheels were in, and they swapped them over. None of this was prompted by me, and I've never experienced service like it elsewhere in the car industry.

In 2 years time, I'll be buying another.

Oh, and turning the traction control off is fun this time of year :D

The new 230 I think was reviewed either on 5th gear or Top gear the other week, turbo diesel version had over 400ft/lb torque :o

A customer of mine had an IS200 on lease about 2000 and it was serviced regularly and carefully looked after and not drived hard.

The big end went on it at 20k miles? Toyota (Lexus) repaired it all free, but why?

He now drives an S-type jag which has been faultless (told he not the hard driving type).

Ran an IS200 sport and then moved onto an A4 Avant, in my mind I can't knock either car. I clocked up 72,000 miles in 3 years and the car never once missed a beat - thirsty though - it averaged 28.7mpg over that total distance.
The current A4 is a 1.9 Diesel and clocks up 42mpg (average after 52,000 miles) and is a better drive than the IS200, much more relaxing when you need it to go, and it's a lot better finished and definitely more practical.
