Depends what they are going to use it for but one of the ones from this list might be suitable.

The main plus point is that they have free customer support for broadband (the premium rate numbers are for dialup customers) which is based in South Africa rather than the usual Indian-based call centres (no disrespect to any indians reading this, it's just that the training is generally minimal and staff turnover is very high).

It's a small company and you can email the CEO directly if you have a complaint.

I use AOL broadband at 2.5 meg but since fitting a wireless router its so slow I`d be better off using a carrier pidgeon,.....................any ideas chaps?

Could be anything, are you using it wirelessly or via Cat5, have you configured your router correctly, any port forwarding? firewall rules? DHCP?

I have cable with Telewest. Lower contention ratio's etc.

I get a 2MB connection with no download limits for £15 a month. I no complain.

JPM 08-Dec-2005 11:18

Very nice for you Tony :P But I did state ADSL only ;)

Yes I know, that's why I prefaced everything with "I have cable" :frog:

But it's interesting to see that cable does appear to be cheaper. I assume you've checked that your parents can't get cable?

No, not yet :(

Saying that my Telewest/Blueyonder package is 1mb for 17.99 a month unlimited, but I have TV/Phone etc also, I wonder if I can get upgraded for free?

Dunno, might be able to. I guess whether you are still under contract means a lot.

I had all of that as well, but I've dropped the tv (now Sky+ which is much better) and phone and I got the blueyonder deal over the web cheap. You should at least be able to get 2MB for £17.99 because that's what the current deal is. It's discounted to £15 for brand new customers, which in my flat I am.

Jump on the web and put your parents postcode in and see if they can get cable.
