Tony, fantastic post mate, just made me think of the few times I met Dave, and what a wonderful man he was. Like you, I'd only just started to know Dave, and still now I feel a hole in the world. I know Dave meant a lot to many people. Annette's amazing strength is possibly one hell of an inspiration to us all. Let alone Dave's outlook on the world.

I'll have a beer tonight for Dave and Annette.

Dave was definitely the fastest DD racer when fixing other people's bikes...
We miss you mate.

Thanks for that post Tony, I'm happy to have read what I read on RFH website. Annette I wish I could be as strong as you.

Not a lot more to add-I was privileged to know Dave for a couple of years, and like the rest of us still miss him-as TP says Top Bloke.

Dave & Annette Harris - Fantastic bloke and an astonishing woman!!

Nice post TP, I was blubbing too :(

Not only did the organs help people here, but 20,000 Africans will benefit from a health worker too!!

Dave has given the gift of life to hundreds of others after the loss of his own.

;)

I miss the coffee he served in the crappy cups at his garage .... how they never made anyone ill I'll never know ....

Dave, hope they've got you a clean mug up there .....

A homage to Annette

She walks in Beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

Some of you may know that I'm a bit involved with Riders for Health in general. Anyway, on their forum I'd been posting updates re the Dave Harris trackday and the discussion threads on the DSC.

Anyway, here's a response from Riders today:

Thanks for highlighting this Phill. Although we never met him, it has become clear to everyone at Riders for Health that Dave was both a great racer and a great man. We feel very honoured and humbled that his family and friends were so generous in raising funds for Riders in his memory - they have made an incredible difference to so many people living in impoverished communities in Africa, giving them the hope of a healthier future.

We can't thank everyone - especially Annette - enough for all their hard work. And if it is decided to make the track day into an annual event, it will of course receive the whole-hearted support of all of us here at Riders.

Nice one Phil, well done mate.

So how do we get this show on the road to get it setup on an annual basis because that appears to be the concensus? Provided that Annette agrees of course. I'm happy to be involved, but I guess we'd need to get moving to get track availability etc.
