The solution for the filler cap is to speak with www.sandbarcomposites.co.uk (Nigel) they make a really nice carbon unit, I've just received and fitted mine - it looks the dogs doodahs... I'd thought of machining up some reducer inserts myself - as then you can use the still available 748R type plastic connectors. I'm still hoping for some OE fitment stuff but I'm getting a bit cheesed off with calling Duc specialists around the world to be told that they don't have em'. Oh yeah don't forget that if you make your own there is a need for the fuel return side to have a non-return valve in the unit ! What have you used / got hold of for the breather pipe and valve ? cheers Neil |
I was at the bike shop yesterday looking at stuff. The breather pipe will just atttach on to little pipe coming out the lh top of the tank and in line will be a little aluminium machined-up check valve. Although you have to watch them. I has a valve jam on my Hailwood tank on my S2 and the tank got really fat on eng shut down. Then the garage filled with mist. Very entertaining! Of coarse I was standing in the middle of it try to open the fuel cap to vent it. Lucky I put my smoke out seconds before. |
Just been to sandbarcomposites. Mmmm the tank only cost AU$710 |
yup you guys are spoilt rotten down there - Gowanloch say they don't have any carbon caps - that's why I bought the one from sandbar...the stock alloy cap just doesn't look right, believe you me when you fit a carbon one you'll understand it's well worth it !! |
I'll have to start saving up the change from the milk |
Neil, I had am aero ally cap made for my carbon tank. Is your tank an 888 or 851 shape? Rgds, Rob |
P.S. What did you use for a gasket? |
my tanks an 851 shape, and I used the OE rubber gasket between the filler and tank - seems Ok. |
Is that the big gasket with the depressed centre, mine is a Paso part (maybe othere too) Rgds, Rob |
that's the one - big gasket with the depressed centre |
