What was the site doing? To many connections or something else?

Theres your bleeding problem, YOU WENT OUT!
Rule 167b (sub section d,paragraph 6) states "there must be one memberof the webteam on the bike AND pedalling at all times"

I must admit i find this occurs regularly. I remember it happening a while back as well, although some new singing and dancing bit was supposed to of sorted it?

Problem before was too many people looking at the site at the same time, the server has been adjusted to allow 250 people. Another problem we have had, is our ISP had a power failure causing the site and server to close down.

So, hence me asking what it was doing, as neither TP or Eamonn have left a mail to say the site needed re-booting.

It was v v slow Flanks, from aqbout 4,30ish, with people (even on superdooper fast broadband) making double postings, then the site just 'hang' for over 10 mins at about 5pm (the time of day when I read before home time from work).
I just gave up on it as the full screen wouldnt come up.

Thank you! Next time, do some work! Might have saved the site! :P

The problem that we have been experiencing (more frequently over the last 6 months) is in the definition of how many simultaneous connections the website can handle.

Up until 14-Jan this setting was 100 simultaneous connections - I then increased it to 250 connections, which still doesn't appear to be enough!
I've now increased it to 350 - let's see how that goes!

It's a bit like setting up carbs - lots of options to change but you need to find just the right one and turn it just the right amount. Too little and it has no effect, too much and it all goes haywire :)

If there's anyone who has experience of tuning mySQL4 with Apache on Redhat Linux 9, please get in touch with the webteam. Any assistance will be greatfully received.

Yeah, what father of the webteam said :)

Why don't you all just admit it! Someone forgot to put a half-crown in the meter before clearing off down the pub

Time has come to spend some of the clubs funds on more suitable and effective software. I am sure this point will be raised and supported at the AGM on the 18th.

Although only about 100 or so members of the club post on here regularly, anyone who takes the time to go out and meet the members knows that there is a huge audience that watches this board on a daily basis. The fact that Eamonn has had to increase the instantaneous connection level to 350 proves this is true.

It is a great shop window for the club and a potentially good source of advertising revenue.

It deserves a better platform than XMB
