My 748 did exactly the same after washing it , turned out to be dampness in the ecu, Discovered that after highsiding and smashing a collarbone.

Redsp....

....how did the highside and broken collarbone prove it was the ECU?

Pulled lid off the ecu to find loads of dampness , dryed it out and the bike ran sweet as a nut although a bit scarred looking.

OK, but.....

.......how did this cause a highside?

redsp 29-Aug-2003 20:56

Dam thing died on me mid roundabout and burst back in to life rather violently hence the highside (cold pilot race tyres didn't help matters)..

just to let you know- the chip was fitted at Chris Clarkes when they fitted the 50mm cans. I didnt own the bike at the time, my friend did. I am assuming it was set up properly when it went in, although my mate wouldnt know this. He had it done on its first service. Not been in since, & it's done 4000 miles now. Belts, oil, filters, etc changed by myself last year.

Hi my 998 had all the faults as your
748 .the cause faulty fuel injector on rear cylinder,it was just passing petrol like it was coming out of a hose pipe not in a nice spray.
Had new injector,s fitted problem sorted

cheers

so, my next question is: Where to take it to get it sorted properly. I've been out on it today & it hasn't missed a beat funnily enough. I still say its the hot weather!!

As you're in the Midlands, my choices would be JHP in Coventry, or a little further to Nelly at Cornerspeed in Nottingham. Nelly can probably do it a lot sooner than JHP as they are always booked for weeks/months.
