That strikes a chord Gizmo - obviously you're an "insider"! It was sold to me early 88. I will follow it up. |

I got out of it a long time ago and glad I did. I can't recall when the FSA changed if its pre FSA it was open house for dodgy salesmen. Even after it a lot of companies compliance units didn't understand the relevance or workings of the FSA so forms weren't correctly completed or doctored after the sale as the salesmen couldn't be bothered to fill everything in when seeing the client so they got client to sign a blank form, in amongst everything else being signed you wouldn't have noticed. if its after the FSA you should have had proper quotes ( at 5 and 8% I think but can't recall clearly) sent or given to you on anticipated maturity values, there would have been a disclaimer on them though :( |
The other thing you can do is to check to see if anyone wants to buy your endowment and realise capital now to reduce the repayment mortgage or other debts!!! I didn't manage to get any better deal than the life company were offering, but you can get quotes on-line. BTW this does not constitute financial advice! |
If you go onto the "Which" web site they have a letter already wrote out in legal type language that you fill in the blanks and send it off. Plus loads of advice on the site. Give it a try. |
Got shafted as my main endowment was sold to me before start date of records & the guy who sold it to us is now dead & as he was a one man band, so norwich union not intrested. On a better note though challanged Barclays when they took over the Woolwich & got what i thought was not a great amount but, managed to get them to keep the endowment running( as things are getting better on that front) but also had them pay me the compensation wich now sits in an ISA:D, so even if you do win compo you do not have to give up on your endowment, remember it is also a life policy & as it has my ex`s name on it(although she has signed over the rights of the policy to me(long story) ) should she leave this mortal coil my mortgage will be paid in full.
