The problem is that the English don't WANT to work these "low paid menial" jobs, and would rather sit at home on their arses claiming benefits. My mother works at the job centre and she sees it day in and day out. The foreign workers just want to work and don't care what job or how much, but the English are picky *******s that wouldn't break a sweat for less than 20 grand a year.

The reason we have an influx of migrant workers is because we do have the jobs here and they're more than happy to work for minimum wage because it's a hell of a lot more than they would get "back home", and with better quality of life too.

Britain has always had migrant workers going back many centuries, so it's not a new thing.

Blair hasn't done anything to reverse the problem with the benefit culture - if anything the current government have made it worse.

The whole PC thing is nonsense, and you really know they've gone loopy when the criminal has more rights than the victim. Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep? Or is that insulting to the gays now as well? FFS!

I come from the North East which has always been a real Labour stronghold, the saying was that you could put up an empty brown ale bottle as the Labour candidate and it would get voted in.

Why do you think B'Liar's constituency is Sedgefield. For those of you that don't know apart from Sedgefield being in the North East, it also had the largest looney bin (mental hospital) in the area.

It makes me sick that Labour banged the drum about Tory sleaze, at least apart from Johnathon Aitkin, it was at least back benchers, Labour are far worse, and a lot of it involves cabinet ministers.

Sorry Mav i've digressed form the original question, i'd agreee with Yeti's answer though. Much though i detest Labour, there is something to be said for political stabilty, as when a opposition party comes into to power there tends to be some turmoil with changes or even reversal of policies in the past, but New Labour is far closer to the Tory's than Old Labour.

Nobody ever seems to confess to voting Labour, seems on par with being a child molester, but obvioulsy enough people did vote Labour.

Well I'll put my hand up and say that I voted Labour, several times - basically because the Tories are a much bigger nightmare. Don't kid yourself that Labour sleaze is anything like the same scale as what the Tories got up to.

I'm not condoning what the Labour party have recently been exposed for, with their 'loans for peerages' scandal. because it's murky and underhand, but it's not illegal, and unlike the Tory party they haven't had anybody go to jail for their corrupt ways - Aitken and that buffoon Archer are both convicted Tory criminals.

To be fair, I wouldn't vote Labour again until Blair stands down - he's become a liability and labour are looking a mess.

I voted Tory once, when Thatcher first came to power but what a disaster that woman was. Arrogance personified. Why will I NEVER vote Tory again? Because people must have short memories if they've already forgotten their ludicrous economic strategies that plunged the country into the longest recession we've ever had. When all the big businesses stopped paying their bills and a third (yes a third) of small businesses in my local chamber of commerce went to the wall - including a couple of suicides from people who had previously been running successful businesses for 30 years.

Ahhh the Thatcher days...when unemployment was over 3 million, when mortgage rates were 15%, when hardworking families were plunged into negative equity, when home repossesions reached an all time high, when she doubled council tax bill overnight, when our police forces were sent on mounted baton charges against miners who were just worried about their futures. Happy days eh!!!

I hope people will know that I'm a fairly level headed bloke who doesn't bear much malice - but I hated Thatcher then and I still hate her now...oh and look at what her own son gets up too, he's done a few dodgy deals in his time hasn't he? Narrowly avoided extradition a few times and been up in court more than once - not for parking fines either, but for trying to overthrow elected foreign governments.

So, no...I won't vote Labour again but what are the alternatives.

Cameron? Hah....don't make me laugh. The guy is just an actor, did you hear anything but showboating in his reply to the budget? Did you hear any Tory alternatives? No, just a bunch of smart arsed ranting.

He tries to come across as all chummy, one of the people, at one with the concerns of the ordinary bloke in the street. But let's look at the reality.

I have a theory that governments shouldn't serve for more than 2 terms as per the US system - I voted Labour back in 1997 simply because I'd had enough of 4 terms of the Tories. 3 terms of Labour and we're back to the same situation - politicians who are too comfy with their feet under the table, politicians who've run out of ideas for things to do, so invent nonsense policies just for the sake of it. 3 terms is too long for anyone.

Political Correctness is a funny thing - everyone in public life is so scared of saying anything controversial, that there are no opposing ends of the political scale anymore - far left and far right as epitomised by Thatcher and Foot in the 80's don't exist anymore because they're too controversial, both sides are seeking the safety of the middle ground and as a result, there's nothing to choose between them.

Which is why I didn't vote last time - give me an option that says 'None of the above' and I'll vote

Why don'e we have a whip round make a "loan" to the labour party then instead of having our cash back we could have a nominated club member given a peerage so he could go and represent our views. Ban quiet exhaust pipes, cheaper fuel, less uncontrolled immigration, free track days to all over 50's etc. etc.

I'm itrigued as to how a supposedly non profit making organisation can "borrow" such massive sums of money. How the feck are they supposed to pay back those who don't want a peerage ? Maybe it will be lobbed up from the lottery funds, they seem really competent at dipping into that when the need arises. Remember the big tent fiasco !!!
