I've said it before, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the stock slave, as long as you've got the later "cotton bobbin"or "torx-looking thing" :) type. As Jools says, there's no "free lunch" with hydraulics: lighter action = less movement.

The bearing in the pressure plate needs to be in good order too.
