Thanks Micko Pretty sure what you've said fits with my bike. Just seemed hotter than I was expecting from the things I'd had in the past. I'm out again today so I'll see what happens. I guess that seeing temperatues of 110 isn't the norm (as the gauge only goes to 120 :o ) but the hotter whether is not helping. |
Mark I have a 998 which I bought 2 months ago. I had exactly the same thoughts when in traffic. Got roastie toastie and then the fan would just keep it constant. 2 minutes of open roads and it was back to normal. |
I believe fan number one switches on at 100 degress Celsius. Fan number two switches on at 101 degrees Celsius. Make sure you aren't low on coolant. |

As you know your oil has a viscosity quoted ie: 10w40 or 10w/50. The upper figure is a measure of the oils viscosity at 100 degree C. What I'm trying to say is that your oil is designed to work at these temps .... so is the bike. Don't worry. Just enjoy the Ducati and get out on the open road. And on a different note I really hope you aren't the biker that sits in traffic .... I really hope you filter through :) |
Marc Have no fears, all is well. |
Thanks for all your help. Seems that all is well and I no longer need to worry. Just need to get the bike out on the open road :) |
