The problem is that we've got lots of riders with two bikes, but no chance to race them due to mixed grids - Chris Woods, Paul Payne, Skids, Fil2, Rattler(?) and Phil Harris to name but a few. However, because they are seperate classes, there is nothing stopping someone using the same number from another class - that is why we have different coloured number boards. |
"Redgate to Race Control, number 7 has bits falling off" "This is Race Control, which number 7?" "It's a red one" "Righto, that's not much help. What does the rider look like?" "He's a big guy in a black suit Race Control" "Ummm... OK, forget it!" |

I've got no problem with it, but I wouldn't recommend it due to commentator/medic issues. If we could guarantee split grids..... |

Use of the same race number on two different bikes during the same season has been avoided. This has been deliberate. This year is the first with two classes and on a mixed grid the different coloured number boards help identify the different classes not only to trackside officials but also to spectators. Having identical numbers could confuse things, commentators just want to associate a race number with one riders name during a race and while we have combined grids this is how its likely to remain. This also how New Era do things which is why some entering the SV/F400 class may have to change their number so as not to class with somebody else. |
Hmm having had a chance to listen to the commentry that accompanies DD - you could all be number 7 it wouldn't matter - Oh and don't forget not to spend too long on the grid cos of tyre warmer issues now guys will ya ? |
