(You're just a sucker for those white wheels Ian!)

Ah Hartside and back via Middleton then Eggleston Common Steve?

crm250 - Yes, the tyres are Bridgestone, and the front is standard 120 size. They've just been fitted, so are barely scrubbed in really. They feel great so far (mind you, it came with Bridgestone Cyrox's on it, so after swapping these it could hardly feel poor!) Standard size is on the rear too, at the moment.

It's already had an HRC upper radiator fitted (I had the choice of standard or HRC rad. before I bought it), and this is operated by the little alloy push/pull switch you can just make out behind the tax disc (on the cockpit photo). It runs around 80deg most of the time, but rises pretty quickly at stop lights etc. You're right, the fan hardly brings the temp. down - it just slows the rise..! When it's on, and the bike's not moving, the hot air blown around the thighs is immense! I've a spare fan here, so I aim to fit it to the other side of the rad. when I get the chance.

I've been watching the oil level. I've been checking it with the bike held upright, and the dip-stick just pressed firmly onto its housing (ie. not screwed in). I'm assuming this is correct? Hasn't seemed to use any yet - although it ain't been thrashed. A gentle bimble through Weardale was all I seemed to want yesterday. Just revel in the handling, and only occasionally over 8,000rpm - bliss! Averaged 53mpg over 200mls too! (Bet Foggy never managed that..!!)

Steve

Mike: Stanhope -> Middleton-in-Teesdale (photos) -> High-Force -> Alston -> Hartside. Then back in the reverse direction for a run along the North East coast (to cool off!) 'Twas hot hot hot in Weardale! Even up top at the Cafe was sweltering.

yeah, it was hot, we were out over towards the coast in West Cumbria in the morning, even sitting at the cafe at St Bees it was warm!! didn't get to Hartside till about 3.30 ish, busy but not as busy as I expected, the police R1 sat there for an hour so that probably deterred the loud can/small number plate owners :)

Other option is pace offer a kit for the RC30 that includes both rads (lower is much larger) and fans for just shy of a grand, granted its alot of money but coupled with a deep sump would make the bike a useable everyday bike.
I check my oil level the same way too so i guess its correct. mine also uses nothing, but can stay the same for weeks, then drop 5 mm after a 5 min blast so every days ride / or couple of hundred miles i check mine.
I know we spoke just before you got it and you had reservations if it would be all you hoped for - well i can only presume its more and better than you dreamed of i know mine is and it was worth the 10 year drool, and the dream in many cases is shattered when you get the bike of your dreams, but not in this case for me it is and i will say again, IMO the best bike i have ever ridden new or old (and i have had some bikes) it may not be the fastest or the lightest, but its more than the sum of its parts and just makes perfect sense as a road bike, apart from cooking your love spuds its perfect for me
