many thanks Tim |
The 998r is bigger bore and shorter stroke, gives a massive 3 bhp more, don't know what the effect is on Torque. The seat unit is different, no vents on the 8r and I'm not sure but the 6r seat unit might not be carbon. Both are great bikes, the 996r was the last to win the WSB championship, the 8r was the highest spec enginewise of the line. Ducati.com still has info. about these two bikes and still allows the comparison to be made spec wise. Ray. |
Hi Les, Long time no see - since the rather damp Rockingham DSC day I think?! Just in case you're interested, I'm on the verge of selling by 998S Bayliss Replica (I swapped the SPS for this last year). Ohlins all round, Testastretta engine etc. Not an 'R' version, but still 136bhp and I'm not looking for £12K! Haven't sorted an ad or decided what price it's going to be advertised at yet (hence lack of details and nothing on the bikes for sale forum) but if you're interested let me know... Cheers Giles PS. Avatar is the bike at Silverstone in it's track day clothes - no one came past on the straights, or in the corners for that matter! |
"the 996r was the last to win the WSB championship".......... well apart from the 999r a couple of times..........and against proper 1000cc opposition!...........still memories eh! |

I don't know what question you're answering, but the question posed is quite clearly "996R or 998R". If it was; "can someone who has no real interest in adding any real value to this thread, is trying to justify their overpriced purchase of a 999R and is hurting because their bike has now depreciated to a point where its worth less than a ""996R or 998R"" please respond" Then your response would have been correct ;) |
ouch that's got to hurt :D |
:frog: It just makes me laugh "the first of the testastrettas", " the last to win the wsb, " and so on...................move on!:frog: |
I'd move on, but you wouldn't be able to keep up ;) |
I see theres potentially another woman coming into the DD.........how many does that make? ;) |
