I've got to agree with Rally on this one. I never really thought sponsoring at club level would bring any type of return. Even at bsb/bss level its only the really top guys on Airwaves and Rizla, etc, bikes that get the exposure. I sponsored Jamie Robinson not for commercial reasons, but it meant I could feel part of his team, see the day to day activities durring a race weekend. I also get free passes and wher it applicable hospitality. May I suggest that anyone looking for sponsorship in DD should look further that just placing a sticker on thier bikes and feeling thats enough. KJeep them informed of you progress with a personel race report, If they turn up at a meeting to give you support, make them feel wanted and vital to the team. Every little helps. |
Dittoreally. When I sponsored some riders via Adopt a racer I did it to help them out and get free entry to circuits ;) But the side result was I got about 5 clients from it which was a bonus, paid for the sponsorship and enabled me to increase the amount I gave. The reason I dropped one rider was because I never knew his results or got any feedback. In fact the start of this season I did not even know whether he was racing and if he was which championship! The other 2 sent emails and/or text messages for qualifying and the races. |

Rally.. Like you, I just fund a good mate to allow his passion to be a reality.. Sponsorship at this level never will be a head decision, just a heart one.. |
